Our 2nd Graders had a fantastic day exploring nature at Adkins Arboretum! From hiking the trails to discovering plants, wildlife, and wetlands, our students had an unforgettable outdoor adventure filled with learning and fun. Thank you to Adkins Arboretum for hosting us and to all the chaperones who helped make the day so special. We love seeing our Panthers learning beyond the classroom!

At Preston Elementary, we’re showing our support by wearing GREEN for mental health awareness. Today’s Wear Green Spirit Day is a reminder that mental health matters—and it’s okay to talk about it, care about it, and support one another. Today’s Tour of Italy lunch was a delicious treat for our teachers and staff—and it wouldn’t have been possible without your hard work and generosity. From savory pastas to sweet desserts, every dish made us feel appreciated and loved. We are so grateful for all you do to support our school community. What a wonderful way to celebrate Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week!

Our Pre-K4 students had an exciting adventure today at the Salisbury Zoo! They had a blast exploring and discovering a variety of amazing animals—from playful monkeys to majestic birds and everything in between. It was a perfect day for learning, laughter, and a little wild fun right here at our local zoo. Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who made this trip a success!

Today, Preston Elementary proudly celebrates Nurse Brenda Smith—our incredible school nurse who goes above and beyond for our students and staff every single day. From tending to scraped knees and stomachaches to providing comfort, care, and support, Nurse Smith is truly the heart of our school. We are so thankful for all the ways she keeps us safe, healthy, and smiling. On behalf of every student, teacher, and staff member—thank you, Nurse Brenda, for all that you do!

This week, we’re celebrating Mrs. Sherman, our amazing school counselor! With 19 years of educational experience—12 in special education and now in her 7th year as a school counselor—Mrs. Sherman brings heart, wisdom, and dedication to everything she does. 💜 She holds degrees in Elementary & Special Education and a Master's in School Counseling, and she's a key member of several school committees, including serving as the Positive Behavior Co-Chair. Mrs. Sherman’s passion is clear: she’s always learning new strategies to support our students and families better. Her favorite quote? “Do the right thing, even when no one is looking.” 🫶 Thank you, Mrs. Sherman, for all you do to make PES a kinder, more supportive place to grow and learn! 🦆✨

Preston Elementary | May the 4th Be With You! The Force was strong at Preston Elementary today! Our halls were filled with Jedi, Sith, stormtroopers, and more as we celebrated May the 4th Be With You Spirit Day. Students and staff showed off their Star Wars spirit with epic costumes—there were plenty of Baby Yodas, R2-D2s, and even a few brave stormtroopers keeping watch! Thanks to everyone who joined the galactic fun and made today out of this world!

Digging Into Learning in Pre-K! Mrs. Glessner’s class had an exciting time this week investigating earthworms as part of their hands-on science exploration! Our curious Pre-K students observed how earthworms move, what they feel like, and where they live. They asked questions, made predictions, and got up close with nature—proving that even the tiniest creatures can lead to big discoveries.
