Dear Preston Elementary School Families,
It is difficult to put into words what the past seven years at Preston Elementary School have meant to me. Serving as your principal has truly been the greatest honor of my career, and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a special school community.
I want to share with you that at the conclusion of this school year, I will be leaving Preston Elementary School to become the new principal at Greensboro Elementary School beginning July 1. While I am excited for this next chapter, Preston will always hold a special place in my heart.
Over the past seven years, we have had the privilege of watching our school grow and accomplish incredible things together. I am so proud of the academic success our students and staff have achieved, including earning a four-star rating on the Maryland State Report Card every year since that measurement began. More importantly, though, I am proud of the culture we built together: one centered around relationships, positivity, support, and joy.
One of the things I will cherish most about my time at Preston is the spirit of this school community. We worked hard, but we also made sure to have fun together along the way. Whether it was celebrating student successes, participating in school events, sharing laughs in the hallways, or creating memories that made school a place students wanted to be, those moments are what made Preston feel like family.
To our students: thank you for bringing energy, personality, and excitement into our building every single day. Watching you learn, grow, and succeed has been the most rewarding part of this job.
To our teachers and staff: thank you for your dedication, passion, and commitment to children. The work you do each day changes lives, and I have been incredibly fortunate to work alongside such talented and caring people.
To our PTO and families: thank you for your partnership, encouragement, and unwavering support. The strength of Preston has always come from the incredible community surrounding it, and I am deeply thankful for the relationships we have built over the years.
I am also excited for Preston’s future. Mrs. Mary Jo Kerr will be joining Preston Elementary School as your next principal. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, and I know she is excited to become part of this outstanding school community.
I am looking forward to the next month and a half here at PES and enjoying my favorite events such as Career Day, Field Day, and our 5th Grade Celebration! Our current 5th graders were just Pre-K students when I began here, and seeing them grow has been a true joy to see. These events are so close to my heart, and I am so grateful to have that opportunity ahead of me.
Although I will greatly miss being part of Preston each day, I will leave with immense pride, gratitude, and appreciation for all we have accomplished together. These seven years have shaped me both professionally and personally, and I will carry the memories and relationships from Preston with me forever.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your children’s lives and part of this extraordinary community. Preston Elementary School will always mean so much to me.
With gratitude,
A.J. Angeloni
