At their April meeting, the Board of Education approved Wednesday, June 17 as the last day of school for all students, and it will be a half day.

School calendars are approved by the Board of Education before the start of the school year. State law dictates that inclement weather days be built into the calendar which factors into determining the last day of school. The last day is traditionally approved by the Board in April, once the potential for inclement weather has reasonably passed.

The 2025–2026 school calendar has been updated due to multiple weather closures. The original calendar included three built‑in inclement weather days, but schools closed on five additional dates: December 5, 2025, and January 26, 27, 28, and 29, 2026.

In February, the Board approved two changes:

  • February 16 (Presidents’ Day) became a regular school day.

  • March 16 changed from a staff PD day to a full instructional day.

After additional closures on February 23–24, the Board made further adjustments:

  • April 1 changed from a half day to a full instructional day.

  • April 2 changed from a day off to a half day.

To avoid extending the school year, CCPS requested and was approved for a state waiver reducing the required total of days to 179 days, making the last day of school for students Wednesday, June 17, 2026 (half day).
