At the November Board of Education meeting Preston Elementary School Physical Education teacher Christi Saylor was recognized for being the recipient of the Simon A. McNeely Award from SHAPE Maryland.

This honor is awarded to educators who:

1.     Demonstrate outstanding teaching and service in Health, Physical Education, Recreation or Dance;

2.     Demonstrate innovations in Health, Physical Education, Recreation, or Dance through teaching and service;

3.     Are a current member of SHAPE Maryland or a professional organization pertaining to your field;

4.     Have presented or actively participated in local, county or regional workshops and conferences in the past three years;

5.     Are actively involved in school and community affairs and problems related to Health, Physical Education, Recreation, or Dance; and, 

6.     Have a minimum of 5 years professional experience in a Health, Physical Education, Recreation or Dance field.

SHAPE Maryland is the association for health and physical educators. Their mission is to enhance and promote the health and wellness of all the citizens of Maryland by providing advocacy, resources, and professional learning opportunities for current and future PreK-12 health and physical educators.
