PES

Dear Families of Preston Elementary School,

I hope this email finds you and your families in good health and high spirits. It is with great pleasure and excitement that I introduce myself to you as the new Assistant Principal of Preston Elementary School (PES). I am honored to have the opportunity to help lead a school with such a rich background and culture of excellence. PES is a very special place, one I have been fortunate to serve at for the past 3 years. The students, staff, teachers, parents, families, and community are unlike any other. The dedication I’ve already witnessed from everyone to provide the best academic experience at PES is inspiring. As Assistant Principal, I aim to continue supporting and enhancing the incredible work already being done at our school.

As I enter my 12th year in education in Caroline County Public Schools (CCPS), I have had the privilege of serving in various capacities, including as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, and literacy coach. These roles have equipped me with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by both educators and students. Teaching at the high school and elementary school level has also given me a unique perspective of the continuity needed for students. As a Pittsburgh native, I graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with my undergraduate degree in elementary and special education. While teaching in CCPS, I earned my Master's of Education from Salisbury University as a Reading Specialist and Post-M.Ed. Certificate in Educational Leadership. As a former Reading Specialist and Instructional Coach, I am proud to bring my knowledge and experience in promoting literacy, as I continue my journey at PES where our mission is PRIDE, EXCELLENCE, and SUCCESS for educating ALL students.

As the assistant principal, I will work closely with Mr. Angeloni and our teachers to support a challenging curriculum, honor individuality, and work collaboratively. My priority is working in partnership with families and the community to make certain all students with diverse needs and abilities can grow academically, emotionally, and socially while promoting success beyond school. I believe that a collaborative approach, where parents and the school work hand in hand, can greatly contribute to the success of our students. I look forward to working closely with you, the dedicated staff, and the entire school community to further an atmosphere of excellence and ensure a positive educational journey for our students.

Please feel free to reach out to me at waters.deanne@ccpsstaff.org or by phone at (410) 479-2897. I am eager to hear your insights, suggestions, and concerns as we embark on this exciting journey together. I am honored to be a part of the PES community, and I am confident that together, we will make a lasting positive impact on the lives of our students.

Wishing you a wonderful summer break and looking forward to the start of an incredible school year!

Warm regards,

Deanne Waters
