While learning about natural selection, Biology students in Mrs. Smith's class were given the challenge to design butterflies that would best camouflage in plain sight within a "habitat" in the classroom. After placing the butterflies in their habitat, AP Biology students in the next class period played the role of predators and hunted for butterflies for 5 minutes. This activity modeled evolution by natural selection - that butterflies best adapted for their habitat would survive predation and be more likely to reproduce offspring that also have that beneficial adaptation. #ColonelTOUGH

The CRHS Clarinet Quartet, consisting of senior Joanna Schoonover, sophomores Alyssa Bradley and Carly VanSchaik, and freshman Jeffrey Lin earned a Superior rating. Congratulations to our varsity baseball team for their 6-4 win over Northern Garrett High School in the playoff semifinals! The Colonels started the game down 3-0, but didn't give up! The winning pitcher was junior Daniel Hesson. Senior Chandler Tindall went 3-4 and senior Carter Walters went 2-3. Junior Brayden Dadds singled for the go ahead 2 runs, and seniors Conner Detrich and Cam Gondeck, and junior Gavin Whitby all hit safely. #ColonelTOUGH #homegrown
They will now play in the State Championship game on Saturday, May 27th at 1 PM at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf against Clear Spring High School, a rematch of last year's state championship game! A link for tickets will be posted as soon as it's available.
